A very cool photo shot by Jordan Manley in the Winter 2011 issue of Snowboard Canada Magazine. B&W.
Last spring I did a big mission from Squamish to Pemberton by snowmobile, and the SBC feature just dropped. It was an awesome crew that made the long haul so easy and fun (Burns, RobinVanGyn,Ashley, Bilocq) @ashley barker shot the photos.

2011 Snowboarder Photo Annual.

I shot this photo with @JordanManley last winter on Blackcomb during the Deep Winter photo comp. Jordan was 50 feet up a tree for this one, what a nut, eh! Very cool perspective. If birds offered some kind of tangible threat, this image shows how exposed we shredders and skiers could be, 'alone' in the forest.

Shredding in the (ZimZim) Zillertal---->Austria.

Austria is unreal for shredding. I shot this with Phil Tifo last January on an incredible trip visiting Gruber and the Asthetiker crew.

It's sideways as a catalyst to catch the gaze, let your mind do the re-arrange.

King Snow Mag, Contents page for Volume 2. Shot by Russell Dalby! It was a fun one to shoot. Russ and I started making a habit of going up really late in the afternoons to to only shred and shoot the last couple hours of the days. I think we did 4 late missions in a row, a real blast.

I found this other shot, shot by Ashley Barker, in the March 2010 issue of Method Mag while I was over shredding in Europe last month. I was in the Aesthetiker office and ripped it out of their copy of the mag!

First issue of Snowboarder Mag 2009

First issue of the year over at Snowboarder Mag. A nice full page from the Pemberton Backcountry in the Elements photo section. Worth noting is the Standard Film's ad in the very same issue for their upcoming video release: BLACK WINTER. I am listed in the ad and will be in the movie!

A few cool shots in the new Snowboard Mag. I spent a bunch of time last winter around Revy and Golden, and these photos remind me of sick times!. Jeff Curley shot the photos.

This one I'm only the main frame. The other 2 frames are of my homie Ave, and some other fellow.

There is a new snow blog at push.ca, where Rouleau just conducted an interview with Dano about..things:

http://push.ca/blogs/dav/archive/2008/10/03/the-dano-portfolio.aspx

I try to shoot with Dano as much as I can, and these photos are from 3 different times and 3 different places. I'd say that jib shot is about 20 stairs with the kink, I just didn't bother digging the stairs out..haha

Here's a 2007 video clip, footage from Standard Films. Winter 2007 in Whistler was a great time in the grand scheme.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

I'm Dave Short and my profession is snowboarder.

My very supportive sponsors are The North Face www.thenorthface.com and Jones Snowboards www.jonessnowboards.com />

Here are a few photos that have been published in the last lil while. ENJOY

(above)This is a shot in the fall 2007 Snowboard Canada. It is in an article pertaining to rails vs. pow. My quote in the bottom right of the frame says something along the lines of "Powder has a short shelf life, there are finite amounts of it. It's a valuable resource, like oil and diamonds. Without powder, I probably wouldn't snowboard."

The above photo just ran in the wallpaper section of the April '08 Transworld Snow. This cliff is in a zone near Whistler that has since been closed to snowmobilers, which means the only way to access this cliff now is by hiking in, which would no doubt be a massive undertaking.

(above) This photo also ran in the April '08 issue of Transworld snow, in a feature story on Argentina. Pow turns 'til the cows come home, cuz why the hell not!?

This photo (above) was run in issues of both Transworld and Future. Some mellow surf style on the tip of a drooping glacier makes it evident that I always daydream about surfing, especially when I'm playing about in the mtns!

The Winter '08 issue of Snowboard Canada was a good one! The above shot is sweet just because it looks like a turtles face in the glacier ice, and furthermore it looks like the turtle is spitting me out of his mouth..tell me you see it!?
and the below photo ran in the photo section of the winter '08 SBC. After this issue came out, Geoff Andruik (photographer) confided in me in LasVegas that this was his favourite frame from the winter, so that was rad to hear.

(above) the Future Snowboarding November 2007 version of this slasher. tifo photo.

(above) Future Snowboarding March 2008. 2 page spread in the photo section. Tifo photo.

(above) This is the opening photo in the Playboard 07/08 photo issue. It was a really fun drop.

I will continue to post, rest assured of that.

Sincerely,
David Short
